These boots are made for walking...

February 25, 2010

Plans are in hand, training has begun and sponsor forms are being drawn up for Media Matters' inaugural charity walk. The team is set to tackle the 50 kilometre - 32 mile - Hambleton Hobble in the North Yorkshire Moors over an August weekend.

Media Matters - NSPCC walkWith hills, forests, moors and even a ford to cross, the circular route, on the western fringes of the moors, promises to be a challenge not to be taken lightly - though for some a night in a tent alongside workmates is set to be the greatest challenge!

"We work brilliantly as a team 9-5 but this walk will take us into a completely new environment and, in different ways, challenge everyone as individuals and a team," said managing director Peter Corder.

The team will be raising money for the Peterborough Business Support Group of the NSPCC which helps vulnerable youngsters in the city.

Seminar dispels online myths

February 22, 2010

Media Matters' seminar 'Can business afford to ignore the online world?' will take place on Thursday, April 15 at The Marriott Hotel in Lynch Wood. The event is aimed at business people who have a grasp of online marketing and want to understand its potential further.

The seminar will set out to dispel the myths behind the digital media and social networking explosion and - more importantly - discuss its relevance to business. Speakers from Peterborough-based companies with regional and national prominence who already use these tools to benefit their business will be sharing their online experiences.

"We are passionate about this subject and want delegates to leave the seminar having gained a real understanding of how online media can benefit their business," said managing director Peter Corder. The event is invite only. Please secure your invitation by emailing.

Peterborough and Stamford Hospital NHS Trust Annual Awards

Peterborough and Stamford Hospital NHS Trust Awards

Media Matters co-sponsored the Peterborough and Stamford Hospital NHS Trust Annual Awards in October. Over 100 awards were presented to staff and volunteers for long service, qualification success and outstanding achievements.

“It was a pleasure to be part of the awards evening,” said Dawn Strange, Media Matters. “I don’t think people realise or appreciate what these people do - it often goes way beyond the realms of a normal 9 to 5 job.”

Staff and volunteers who have worked or been associated with the Trust for many years, some for more than a quarter of a century, received special recognition. And awards were presented to four teams of staff as well as 26 individual people for their outstanding achievements in their workplace – for the benefit of patients – over the last 12 months.

Dawn added: “Media Matters has enjoyed a long association with the Trust. We write and design the hospital newspaper and often get to come into the Trust to interview and meet staff and write about some of these amazing initiatives.

“But when you bring all of these achievements together for one awards evening it makes you realise just what an excellent and accomplished service we are lucky to have here in Peterborough. It was a privilege to be part of the evening.”

Media Matters and Anne Corder Recruitment jointly sponsored the event held at the Holiday Inn West and presented by Heart FM DJ Kev Lawrence.

We hope that you have had the opportunity to read and enjoy the second issue of our Lynch Wood e-newsletter, which really seems to be gathering momentum. Many thanks to those of you who contributed news items, and also for your comments and words of encouragement about the project - and also to the many of you who attended September's Meet the Neighbours event (see below).

We would now like to hear from you again as we prepare for the Autumn edition. Please send your news and feature ideas; new appointments, company awards, special offers, seminars etc to cetti@mediamatters-pr.co.uk. Some of you have been quick off the mark and have already been in touch.

If you could let me have your information by Monday, October 19th that would be great.
