Keeping pace with the Internet at business workshops

Internet business workshops

With new social networks emerging, the phenomenal growth of smartphones and the arrival this week of the iPad, businesses can't afford to ignore the Internet. That's the message from Peterborough PR and marketing company Media Matters which is leading the charge locally to get more businesses thinking 'online'.

"Promoting a company, a product or even a service today has to involve an element of online activity - to what degree and how this is driven forward is down to each individual business and its audience - but the Internet can't be ignored," explained Dawn Strange, Accounts Director at Media Matters. "Many businesses are missing a trick, either because they refuse to accept the Internet holds any real value to their organisation, or because they don't fully understand the potential of it."

Media Matters is organising a series of business workshops in the city to specifically tackle this subject matter.

"The Internet presents so many opportunities for B2C and B2B companies. It's just understanding and identifying the tools that work best for you," added Dawn. "These workshops will do just that."

The figures speak for themselves - there are currently 500 million Facebook users, 60% of us maintain a profile on a social networking site, over 13million of us use a smartphone to access the Internet and 70% of us now read blogs, Tweet or watch YouTube video. That's a lot of activity, it's also a big audience to tap into, argue Media Matters.

Workshops are pitched at varying levels - for absolute beginners or those experienced Internet users who want training on specific online marketing tools. All take place at Media Matters' Lynch Wood training studio. Next workshop will be: 'Internet Marketing - the Basics' on June 21, 2-5pm.
